Prologue

Marie-Blanche Ouedraogo was born on 6th June 1971 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. She lives and works there.

Marie-Blanche starts her search for a motive by living, what she feels, she should create on canvas, almost like a spiritual adventure. She considers an idea which she gets from nature and she lets it reap on canvas, almost like a woman carries her child and gives birth to it.

In workshops she studied the different techniques of painting from which she developed her own: By combining oil, pigment and acryl she creates pictures with smooth, round forms, like a symbolic writing, a projection of herself.

Her quiet temperament expresses her African femininity, following her emotions. With a rich opalescene of colours she gives her compositions cheerfulness. She is a pioneer in her country, opening up with remarkable enthusiasm the painter's profession for women in Burkina Faso.
