On the threshold of the 21st century a wind of change blows from Africa. It is not the wind we are accustomed to. This wind blows from the expanse of an ancient history, of old religiones, myths, centuries old cultural traditions and arts, but also from a deep reservoir full of vitality, light- and warm-heartedness, humanity, passion and ferocity. Magic entanglements and superstition, harshness and gentleness, kindness and hatred are however also part of this change.
	The pictures created by the young artists from Burkina Faso demonstrate the symbiosis between old and new, beween the Africa of old and the achievements of Europe. These pictures schow the newly found African self-conciousness, the intellectual independence and the break-through to a new personality.
